Bracken Barns Glamping: Our Journey

  Our dream made real
Crorieshill, our farm.

Originally a single bothy built in 1655 to house its crofter,  John Cunningham , Crorieshill has actually been a farm since  1613. Our farmhouse dates back to 1857.

We moved here in February 2023 to realise our dream of an eco friendly (and hopefully disability friendly in the next few years!) small holiday site where people could come and relax and recharge.

We are striving to be an Off-Grid,  Eco-Friendly site by 2027. Our non-invasive glamping experience boast Mongolian yurts, built by Red Kite Yurts, designed for cold climates. We also have an ex Redditch depot Double Decker Bus repurposed and recycled into a family accommodation with all the mod cons.

As it was used as an NHS bus, our Bru Bus now fits in perfectly at its new Scottish home sporting the orange & blue Irn Bru colours with pride!

All our accommodation have

  • compost loos
  •  hot showers
  • wood burning stoves
  • solar generated energy
  •  eco friendly products
  • communal BBQ & Fire Pits .
  • Communal wood-fired Sauna
  • On Site Massage Therapist

To uphold our recycling & commitment, we have

  • Installed solar energy
  • Only use eco friendly cleaning products
  •  upcycled materials throughout the farm
  •  sourced secondhand furniture for our accommodations (apart from bedding)
  • Process and use our own firewood coppiced from the farms woodland which is here to buy onsite.
  • Compost all land & livestock waste
  • planted over 40 trees including an orchard
  • Reintroduced native tree and wildflower and fungi species into the farm to promote biodiversity.

When you stay with us at Bracken Barns you do so with the confidence that we provide incredibly comfortable, warm accommodation to match the Scottish climate and compliment your outdoor activities. Want to book a break?

Whats Next?...

We have so many plans for the future of Bracken Barns!

Plans include adding two more disability friendly yurts, an Events yurt to host small, intimate retreats for supporting illness recovery, reconnecting to nature, biodiversity &  wellbeing education, yoga, self care & back care. And maybe some more goats.. for the yoga..
